Overview:
To learn about using Masks, how to keyframe parameters of masks like position, scale, rotation, etc., how to change the "centers" of the transformations, and then inventing other things, like creating a shadow for a masked, moving image, etc

STEP # 1: Gather photographs! Start with 5 or so to begin!
The following sites offer free, royalty-free HI RESOLUTION photographs to download. Some may require that you register for free with an email account. You might want to find photos of a similar theme. Save these to a folder with your name on it that you have created on the Desktop or in the Documents folder.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME DOING A GOOGLE SEARCH FOR IMAGES! The vast majority of pictures you find this way will either not be downloadable, or will be low-resolution.

How to MASK:
- Scroll down the Effects list and choose "Masking" I think a window will pop up asking what kind of mask; for now, choose "Draw Mask"
- Drag the effect to the Timeline and place it ON TOP OF the clip you want to mask. (Not above the clip, on top of it!)
- Now the cursor should change to a pen-looking think and you can start clicking to create the mask. IT HAS TO END ON THE SAME POINT THAT YOU STARTED, Do this by clicking on the starting Control Point to finish. I f you need to go out of the frame, zoom out (see next step), you can then place more control points around then area you want to mask.
- If you want to draw off the frame view to get the edges, ZOOM out in the Viewer--click on the percentage button you see above the viewer on the upper right. Pick a percentage that's smaller than the "Fit" option. To go back to the clip frame fitting in the viewer like before, click "Fit"
- Note there's a little box in the clip video Inspector (upper right) that says "Invert Mask" Check the box! Now uncheck it! Choose whichever you want
- Ok, I think I'll leave it at that to get you started. There's much more to know, depending on how y'all want to use it in your projects!
